The Lehde Open-Air Museum – a journey into the past

You can gain an in-depth insight into the lives of people in past centuries at the Lehde Open-Air Museum. Visitors can see faithfully furnished farmhouses, stables and barns in which the everyday life of the Spreewald people is vividly portrayed. The living rooms are furnished with historical furniture, tools and everyday objects that offer an insight into life at the time. From the traditional oven in the kitchen to the handmade textiles, every facet of rural life is traced.
In addition to the historic buildings, the museum also exhibits traditional crafts such as boat building, basket weaving and pottery. Another highlight are the Sorbian and Wendish customs and costumes, which you can learn about here.
During the Advent season, the museum invites visitors to the traditional Christmas market on two weekends.
