The volunteer fire department in Lehde

Fahnenweihe der Feuerwehr Lehde

Our volunteer fire department was founded in 1904 and has since developed into an indispensable part of our community. A house fire in the 1990s highlighted the need for a unique emergency vehicle, financed at the time by the “Große Hafen” bargemen’s cooperative. The fact that our fire department can almost only reach the island locations of our village by water requires a lot of training and the constant will to develop further.

Fortunately, firefighting operations are very rare. However, our fire department is also called out to assist with transporting patients across the bridges or when a tree is lying across the Spree after a thunderstorm. In such cases, our firefighters are first on the scene to make the river navigable again.
