Together for tradition and nature

3

The youth community from our village meets once to several times a month. It is actively committed to preserving customs, traditions and the cultural landscape so that our Spreewald remains the way we know and love it.

Of course, youth is not just about hard work and effort. People have always enjoyed celebrating in the Spreewald and, as in the past, every opportunity is taken for a social get-together. They have lots of fun together: celebrating, dancing and playing board games in our community center and enjoy every moment they spend together. This strengthens cohesion and makes them a strong and lively group.

I love our youth festivals the most, whether it’s the Easter bonfire or the beer pong tournament. The whole village comes together and enjoys a wonderful time together. It fills you with the wonderful feeling of being part of the village and having created something together.

Tradition is the fire that is passed on from generation to generation. With the youth, we manage to keep this flame alive and not only strengthen our community, but also protect the special culture of the Spreewald.

Our Easter bonfire is always my highlight. We young people organize everything ourselves, from the flyer to the wood gathering. Especially when we are setting up, we feel how we grow together as a team and overcome challenges together.

The ghost ride through the Spreewald used to be a popular tradition and we revived it for the 30th anniversary of our village festival. Standing on the river bank creepy disguised and pranking the passing barges was simply great.

I think it’s great that we young people from Lehde come together to do something together on a regular basis. That wasn’t the case for a long time, but now we organize our own events and strengthen our team spirit.
