Why support and donate?

The association was founded in 1992 by committed inhabitants of the village with the non-profit idea of maintaining and preserving the unique Spreewald village of Lehde. In addition to preserving the rural character of the village with its distinctive natural spaces and the traditional way of building and living, the preservation of the village community with its cultural traditions is very important to us.

In a very tangible way, we promote

• the construction of traditional barns,
• mowing the meadows and maintaining the waterways around the village,
• the keeping of large and small livestock,
• but also vegetable fields (so-called “Horst fields”).

As an association, we also care about the community, which we express at convivial Christmas parties, women’s day celebrations or the annual pensioner boat trip and especially our traditional carnival with the typical costumes and lively polka.
