Photo workshop: Princely couple in a dream setting

Park visitors were amazed last Saturday when they met Prince Pückler and his wife Lucie on a parade through Branitz Park. The fall backdrop did the rest, and the couple was already surrounded by cell phone-wielding visitors.

But the “princely” couple had been hired for a photo workshop and posed in front of a historical backdrop. The Lower Sorbian Language School Cottbus organized this year’s photography workshop under the theme “Scenic photography at the original location”. In the end, the participating photographers were courageous enough to make it clear that the “princely couple” had actually been hired for them. Both actors, Sylvia Burza and Jan Schönberg, had obtained the appropriate costumes from the Senftenberg stage and read into the biographies of the two characters. So they were both able to show Pückler – with a lot of fun for all sides – how he perhaps once showed his wife the latest facilities in the park during a whimsical Sunday afternoon stroll.

There was a similar crowd in the morning when Lea Müller posed for photographers in front of the castle and in the park in Raddusch festive costume.

Course participant Cornelia Menzel, Lübbenau: “The October workshop was a feast for the eyes! In glorious sunshine, our workshop with the actors and the Raddusch Spreewald girl was a great success. In addition to the already beautiful motifs, there was one explosion of color after another. Onlookers who accompanied us got a sense of what it might have been like in Pückler’s time.”
