Photo exhibition in the Straupitz granary

Nadine Schneegaß, also known as the Spreewald photographer, opened her photo exhibition “Spreewaldreflxionen zwischen Fließen und Licht” (Spreewald reflections between flow and light) at the start of the Kornspeicher season. Numerous visitors did not miss the opportunity to congratulate “their” photographer. Nadine is a Straupitz native who took her first steps in photography under the tutelage of Heinrich and Elfriede Lehmann, her photography-loving grandparents. “I still remember developing film under the comforter, the darkest place in the house, and the chemicals and developer cans that could only be located by touch,” says the photographer on the fringes of the exhibition. This analog school is a good prerequisite for every photographer to understand the triangle of exposure, aperture and ISO value, which is also important in digital photography. In addition to these technical aspects, it is the photographic eye that counts – and she has demonstrated this in the exhibition! She succeeded in taking snapshots of the very young women wearing traditional costumes and the somewhat older ladies, along with numerous other motifs. Four-year-old Hanna-Luise Freund was extremely proud to see herself in a huge photo, as was Lea Gretel. There are 87 years between the two women from Straupitz! Each photo also seems to tell a story, because the photographer’s approach is not just a simple photograph, but the depiction of a narrative.

The exhibition was opened with a musical performance by Wolfgang Heisig, accompanied by his wife Kerstin. Sabine Lehmann performed the lyrics in Sorbian, Simone Seeliger in German.

Petra Jank, Chairwoman of the Friends of the Straupitz Granary Association, was delighted to start the season with such an event. The photo exhibition will also be on display the whole time.
