Official Start of Construction on the Second Track in Raddusch
A “grand reception” at the Raddusch train station—officials, including Minister President Dietmar Woidke, kicked off the start of construction! On December 12, 2027, the first train will roll down the tracks—according to the railroad’s promise. Until then, we’ll have to make do with bus service.

Facts and Figures About the Construction of the Second Track
The former second track was dismantled in 1946 as part of reparations paid to the Soviet Union.
For the construction of the new 29-kilometer-long line, the following will be required:
- Six railroad bridges were expanded
- Three peatlands stabilized
- New overhead lines were built
- Noise barriers erected
- Platforms Modified
The line expansion will provide a half-hour train service between Berlin and Cottbus, thereby improving travel options to the Spreewald region.
During the track closure beginning in December 2026, rail replacement service will be provided for the towns between Cottbus and Lübbenau. The RE 20 runs from Cottbus via Calau to Lübbenau, while the RE 2 runs back and forth between Lübbenau and Berlin.
