In the context of the 90th anniversary of the Leiper Weg, which provided the island village of Leipe with a land connection, Marlene Jedro suggested renewing the information boards on part of the route. These used to point out the flora and fauna of the Spreewald, but are no longer attractive, partly because they have been plastered over by the sticker mania of some so-called soccer fans. Alexander Hoschke from the Nature Conservancy was a federal volunteer 10 years ago and helped with the initial signage. Together with the biosphere reserve administration, 25 signs were once again installed on the L\u00fcbbenau – Lehde – L\u00fcbbenau circular route, including a section to Leipe. In drawings by Ines Heinrich, they show plants and animals along the way with corresponding information. Alexander Hoschke: “We see this as a contribution to environmental education and hope that the signs will last a long time!” He symbolically handed over one of the signs to Carsten Domschke from Lehden. Marlene Jedro, who came up with the idea, appeared at the handover with a basket full of Easter eggs. “Elsewhere, people toast with sparkling wine on such occasions, but we Spreewald locals do it with Easter eggs at this time of year,” she explained, and together we started knocking on trees and signposts. In the Spreewald, it was customary to celebrate the so-called Little Easter after Easter. It was once part of the godfather tradition.<\/p>\n\n
